This letter serves as a formal request for clarification regarding certain public actions and representations attributed to you and your organisations, which have raised concerns and required your educated clarification. Given your position of influence and fiduciary responsibility, it is incumbent upon you to provide a clear and substantiated explanation for the matters outlined below, particularly in light of Islamic jurisprudence and the prophetic tradition. These matters are now in the public domain and, accordingly, your response should be made publicly available. Where your actions are consistent with Islamic principles, we will acknowledge and commend them. Where they are not, we will condemn them and we respectfully request a public apology and corrective guidance given to the public. Exhibits and Questions for Clarification Exhibit 1.1 & 1.2: A public statement issued by the Embassy of the State of Palestine in South Africa indicates that H.E. Jarrar attended a gathering hosted by Ashraful Aid at the Wanderers Cricket Club. You are identified as the host in your official capacity. A photograph depicts you in blue and starring at H.E. Jarrar. (Far right in blue) Exhibit 2: A group photograph shows you facilitating (as host) the presence of Apa Wadee and other women on stage alongside male attendees, including H.E. Jarrar. This raises concerns regarding the preservation of modesty and gender boundaries as prescribed in Islamic teachings. Question 1: Please provide a detailed explanation, supported by Qur’anic verses and authentic Hadith, of how such public intermingling and photographic representation aligns with Islamic principles. Specifically, address the prophetic guidance wherein Nabi Muhammad Salallahu Alayhi Wasalam instructed his wives not to look upon a blind Sahabi and women should not show themselves off in the Page 2 of 2 public. Question 2: What, in your scholarly view, constitutes appropriate public conduct and representation in charitable work, particularly when such work is performed under Islamic auspices? Exhibit 3: A poster for an upcoming Hifz completion ceremony at Musjidul Luqmaan indicates that gender separation will be enforced. This appears to contrast with the arrangements made at the Wanderers event. Question 3: Kindly explain the rationale for enforcing gender separation at this religious event, and substantiate your position with references to Qur’an and Hadith. Question 4: Will photographs be taken of female attendees, including Apa Wadee, during the Hifz ceremony? If not, please clarify the religious basis for this decision. Exhibit 4: Photographs have been circulated showing impoverished individuals receiving aid (refer to Ashraful Aid Website). These images raise ethical concerns regarding consent and dignity, especially given the vulnerable status of the subjects. Question 5: Would you permit similar photographs to be taken of your own family members, including Apa Wadee, if they were in comparable circumstances? Please provide your reasoning in light of Islamic ethics. Additional Matters for Consideration Trust and Fiduciary Responsibility: Given the apparent inconsistencies in your public conduct, can the Muslims reasonably entrust you with the administration of Zakaat, Lillah, and other charitable funds? Public Events and Religious Integrity: What is the appropriate stance of Ulama regarding participation in events such as marches, gala dinners, and flotillas, where the risk of sinful behavior is prevalent? Do you belive having a gala dinner event whislt the Muslims in Gazzah are starving has served them well? We respectfully request that you consult with the esteemed scholars listed on your event poster that will attend on 25 Oct, i.e. Moulana Hassen Dockrat and Mufti Adam Hajaat as soon as possible and get their valued guidance and input, since you have shown trust in them to honour your event in Musjidul Luqmaan. We will appreciate a statement addressing the above concerns so we may make the public aware of the outcomes. This inquiry is made in the spirit of accountability, transparency, and sincere concern for the preservation of Islamic values in public life. We look forward to your timely and comprehensive response in a positive light. In-Sha-Allah. Was-Salaam, Concerned Muslims of South Africa Material may be shared with the public for awareness by any parties. Was this page helpful?
