Is it correct for a Muqallid Aalim to say, 'It is not Fardh to follow a Madhab, but by following them you will get the true perspective of following the Shariah', meaning that if you don't you won't get the true perspective. While his intent is sincere and is to explain the importance of following the Madhaaib, is saying in a public bayaan that it is 'not Fardh' correct?

At the minimum, it is exceptionally childish for an Aalim to say to the public that "It is not fardh to follow a Math-hab". This statement is an inspiration of shaitaan. The molvi is extremely short-sighted. He has grossly erred and rendered a great disservice to the Deen. Especially in this age the Ulama should say: Taqleed is Waajib. Taqleed is incumbent. Minus Taqleed the road to Jahannam is paved.'
Technical terms should not be used to describe the Ahkaam to laymen. Laymen become confused and gain opinions which are appeasing to the nafs from the type of statement made by the Molvi.
