Nikah (Marriage) - Talaaq (Divorce) The Majlis Vol 26 No 10, p.5

A Maulana advises that corrupt and evil wives should not be divorced because the vast majority of women are corrupt.

Question

A Maulana advises that corrupt and evil wives should not be divorced because the vast majority of women are corrupt. Therefore the next one a person marries will also be corrupt. Is this advice correct?

Answer

Whether to divorce or retain a corrupt wife, is the discretion of the husband. It is not the effect of advice. The husband should decide what he wants to do. It is permissible to keep her in Nikah or to divorce her. Advice pertains to the merits and demerits of a specific case. It is not universally applicable as the Maulana conveys.
