Question
I would like to understand more about why other yoghurts besides Lancewood are not suitable for consumption. Would this reason also make doubtful other products containing cultures such as cream cheese, buttermilk and cheeses?
Answer
We say that plain yoghurt may be consumed. Cheese which has plant rennet as an ingredient is permissible. Buttermilk is permissible. We are averse to probing these products. Since Lancewood was the only one who had responded to our query, we mentioned them. Nevertheless, plain yoghurt of others may be consumed as well. You may make your own research, and if you establish anything improper, act according to your understanding and feelings. But we are not inclined to research products such as buttermilk and the like.
