Is it permissible for an executor of the deceased's estate to resign without finalizing the winding up of the estate?

If the Wasi (Executor) had accepted the post during the lifetime of the Testator, the post becomes binding and incumbent. In this case the Wasi may not renege and abandon his obligation after the demise of the testator. However, if circumstances do not permit the Wasi to wind up the estate in accordance with the Shariah, then it is incumbent for him to resign.
