On what market value should retailers and wholesalers calculate Zakaat on stock-in-trade?
Answer
The market value is the wholesale price one would pay currently for the goods. Zakaat of stock should be calculated on this basis. This is for retailers. For wholesalers it will be the price they would currently pay for the stock from their suppliers.
