Does a woman have to pay Zakaat on the Mehr amount owed to her. The husband has not paid the Mehr. When he pays, should she pay Zakaat for the past years?
Answer
Zakaat is not paid on the outstanding Mehr. Only after it has been paid will Zakat be payable on it. There is no Zakaat for the past years.
