What is the status of a Nikah performed in secret? Nowadays many men contract secret nikahs. Only two witnesses and the man representing the woman are present. Is the nikah valid?
Answer
While nikah in secrecy is valid, concealing it is not permissible. Concealing the nikah is sinful. Zina is concealed, not nikah.
