Question
Since most of the meat and chickens are doubtful and even haraam, will I be breaking family ties if I do not attend a family function to which I have been invited? How should this be reconciled with the Hadith which clearly mentions that it is sinful not to answer an invitation?
Answer
There is no need to reconcile haraam with the Hadith. If pork and liquor are served, most certainly every ignorant Muslim understands it is haraam to attend such a function. The same applies with functions where carrion is served. Refraining from attending such functions is not breaking family ties. On the contrary it is obedience to the Shariah.
