A woman will be performing Umrah with her husband who is in Saudi Arabia.

Question

A woman will be performing Umrah with her husband who is in Saudi Arabia. A mahram will put her on the plane in Johannesburg. Her husband will meet her at the airport in Dubai. From Dubai they will travel together to Jeddah. Is this permissible?

Answer

No, it is never permissible for the wife to travel without a mahram to Dubai. It is absolutely haraam. In fact, there is a greater need for a mahram when a woman travels on such an evil mode of transport as a plane and has to wait at such evil, immoral places as airports where she has to mingle and interact with fussaaq, fujjaar and kuffaar.
