Question

A Shiah woman renounced her Shiah religion and became a Hanafi. However, her husband remains a Shiah. What is the status of their marriage? Can she marry another man without her Shiah husband giving Talaaq?

Answer

If the Shiah husband refuses to embrace Islam, the marriage is automatically annulled. The woman may marry another man after passing of the Iddat of three haidhs.
