About 22 years ago I took a loan of R400 from a friend. I never repaid the loan. My friend has died some years ago. His heirs are unaware of the loan. What should I do to free myself from this burden?

The only way to free yourself from this calamity is to pay the debt to the heirs of your deceased friend. Understand that the currency in which the loan was given to you 22 years ago is no longer in existence regardless of the name, rands, still being used for today‟s currency. The amount you have to pay to the heirs is the equivalent of the amount of gold which R400 could procure 22 years ago (4.64 grams). Twenty two years ago, the price of gold was R86.20 per gram.
