A new tenant moved into an apartment.

Question

A new tenant moved into an apartment. There were leftover units of electricity in the meter. The apartment was vacant for some time before the new tenant moved in. In this time, the cost of electricity per unit increased. Is the new tenant expected to pay for the leftover units at the new increased cost of units as required by the owner? Or will it suffice to pay at the old cost that the units were purchased ?

Answer

Since the units belong to the owner, he has the right to stipulate a price regardless of him having paid at the old price.
