Question
I was in Mina on the 13th Zil Hijjah. However, I did not pelt the Jamraat because I was told that pelting on the 13th is not Waajib. After returning from Hajj I have been informed that it was Waajib to pelt. Did I have to pelt on the 13th?
Answer
While Rami (Pelting) on the 13th is optional, it becomes Waajib for the one who happens to be in Mina on 13th. You had therefore erred. You are now liable for the penalty of Dumm. A goat/ sheep has to be sacrificed in the Haraam to compensate for the omission of the Waajib act.
