Question
In our dining area in our house, my father has hung some haraam paintings of animate objects. Is it permissible to hang frames of Allah's Names and Qur'aanic verses in the same room? Is it permissible to make Tilaawat of the Qur'aan in this room?
Answer
Explain to your father that on account of the haraam pictures, the Malaaikah of Rahmat will not visit the home. On the contrary, the house will become a haunt for the shayaateen.
It is not permissible to hang Allah's glorious Name in the same room which is adorned with the vile, abhorrent pictures. It is not permissible to engage in Tilaawat of the Qur'aan Majeed in the evil room which becomes the abode of the shayaateen. Do understand well that it is haraam to enter a room wherein haraam pictures are on open display.
