Question
In Mauritius it appears that as a nation we are cursed. This year the cattle and sheep were affected by a strange disease. They start foaming at the mouth and their hoofs fall off. Then they die. The Health Department forbade consuming the meat. The vast majority of the animals died. Do you think we are a cursed nation? The molvis here are saying that it is due perhaps to the solar eclipse. They also say that it is due to the fact that we deal too much with interest. More than 90% of the population deals with interest. Please comment on this situation.
Answer
The wide scale animal disease is a kind of punishment from Allah Ta'ala for the people of the country. Attributing it to the eclipse is nonsensical and not permissible. The eclipse was also here in South Africa, but the animals did not suffer any sickness here. The molvis should shame themselves for uttering such nonsense. They should be better able to understand that it is a punishment of Allah Ta'ala for the evil of the people. Yes, it is valid to say that it could be a punishment for the interest in which more than 90% of the people are involved. If the moral and spiritual conditions of the people do not improve, worse punishments will settle on them.
pay the Dumm Penalty. The wife of the man who has not performed Tawaaf-e-Ziyaarat will remain haraam for him as long as he does not perform it. If he has returned to his country, he has to return to Makkah and perform the Tawaaf, then pay the penalty of a camel. Then only will his wife be halaal for him.
