Question
A prostitute bequeathed a property to a Muslim organization stipulating that the income should be used for a Musjid and Madrasah. The only source of her earnings was prostitution. What is the status of this wasiyyat (bequest)?
Answer
It is not permissible to use the income for the Musjid/ Madrasah. The property having been bought/built with haraam money is also haraam. It is incumbent for the trustees of the organization to sell the property and distribute the money to the poor, destitute and orphans.
