Is it permissible for a woman to wear a sterling silver ring? Or must it be pure silver? Sterling silver consists of 92.5% silver and the balance consist of some other metal, e.g. copper.
Answer
Gold or silver in excess of 50% gold / silver content is regarded as 'pure' in terms of the Shariah. Therefore the sterling silver ring is permissible.
