Question

Regarding Laylatul Qadr being an odd night in the last ten nights of Ramadhaan, we have the situation presently in which we did not sight the moon in South Africa but the neighbouring countries apparently did. Hence the same night that is an odd night here is an even night across the border or vice versa - so how to understand?

Answer

There is no conundrum here. Whenever it is an odd night for us, it will be so regardless of it being an even night elsewhere. Allah Ta'ala grants us the virtues and mercies of the Night which is the odd one by us, and when it is the odd night elsewhere they too will receive the virtues thereof.
