I broke my fast one minute before the Athaan. Is my fast valid.
Answer
It is permissible and valid to make iftaar as soon as the sun has set. It is not incumbent to wait for the Athaan. If the sun had set, then your fast is valid. Iftaar is not reliant on the Athaan. The time of Iftaar is sunset. Usually the Athan is recited about 2 or 3 minutes after sunset.
