What are the reasons for the prohibition of driving for women? Does the prohibition refer to only horses as mentioned in the Hadith?
Answer
Whatever the reasons may be for the prohibition, it is not permissible for a female to drive. We have to obey the commands of the Shariah even if we do not know or do not understand the reasons underlying the commands. The Hadith applies to a greater degree to women driving. They are involved in greater fitnah driving cars, and the reasons of fitnah, immorality and zina are too conspicuous to need elaboration.
