Roses have thorns! The Haqq too has thorns! "We strike baatil with the Haqq. Then it crushes the brains of baatil." (Qur'aan) "Many women who dress in the world will be naked on the Day of Qiyaamah." (Hadith). A brother, writing in defence of Salafis, presents the following argument against our objuratory stance against Salafis: "The general narrative being promoted throughout South Africa is that all Salafis are astray and that we have to stay far away from them. However, the following examples seem to suggest that our Akaabir were not as harsh towards the Salafis. Instead, they adopted a more moderate approach, despite their differences with them. The following are some examples: 1. Mawlana Muhammad Manzoor Nu'mani (Rahmatullah alayh) wrote a book in defence of Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhaab, whom we could describe as one of the foundational figures of Salafism in the land of Hijaz. In the book, Mawlana Manzoor Nu'mani demonstrated that many of the claims made against Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab were false. The book was approved by Mawlana Muhammad Zakariyya (Rahmatullah alayh) as well as Qari Muhammad Tayyib Sahib (Rahmatullah alayh). 2. Mufti Muhammad Shafi' Usmani (Rahmatullah alayh) and Shaykh Ibn Baz. It is documented that Mufti Muhammad Shafi' Usmani visited Shaykh Abdul Aziz ibn Baz and gave him ijaazah in Hadith. Mufti Sahib would presumably not have given him ijaazah if he considered him to be astray. Rather, one would expect him to have warned people against him. 3. Mawlana Muhammad Zakariyya (Rahmatullah alayh) and the Ahl al-Hadith. Mawlana Muhammad Zakariyya writes in Aap Beti the following: "At that time, my own relations with the Ahl al-Hadith were good. They very often came to me. In both Deoband and Saharanpur, there were many Ahl al-Hadith students, but they never disclosed their adherence to the Ahl al-Hadith. "I told them not to hide their madhhab from me. They could come to my house at any time to discuss their problems. Some students (may Allah reward them) came to me to be connected in bay'ah. "Some of them even suggested that, should I demand it of them, they would stop raf' al-yadayn, amin bil-jahr, etc. But I told them: 'You people are doing those things in your earnest desire to implement Rasulullah's صلى الله عليه وسلم ' commands and practices. How can I ever prohibit you from doing so?'" Mawlana Muhammad Zakariyya further writes: "I have no enmity with any Ahl al-Hadith scholars, so long as they do not use insulting or degrading words against our Imams. "In my mind, Shari'ah is only that which is contained in Allah's Word and the words and practices of His Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم. But in acting upon the Hadith and in examining the Hadith critically, the research of the Imams is much more preferable to the research of a novice like myself. "Then also, the era of the Imams was nearer to the era of Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم, than the era of the scholars of Hadith. For this reason, the verdicts of the Imams are more acceptable in the rejection and acceptance of Hadith than even the verdicts of the Muhaddithin and our own research." 4. Mawlana Abul Hasan Ali Nadwi (Rahmatullah alayh) and the Islamic University of Madinah. It is well documented that Mawlana Abul Hasan Ali Nadwi was a member of the board of the Islamic University of Madinah, which was known to be a leading centre of Salafi scholarship over the last several decades. Why, then, do we not find Mawlana Abul Hasan Ali Nadwi speaking against the institution and warning people against it?" ANSWER A book can be written to elaborate on the association between some of our senior Ulama and the leaders of Salafi'ism. However, there is no need for devoting time and effort for such an exercise. A brief response should suffice for unbiased seekers of the Haqq. The attitudes, actions and methodologies of the Akaabir do not constitute Shar'i daleel. It does not follow from them being our Akaabir that we have to make taqleed of their every attribute and act. They had their reasons and they lived in a time and place which differ from the circumstances in which we currently find ourselves. Our opposition to Salafi'ism is restricted to the baatil they actively and vigorously propagate at the behest of mainly the Saudi authorities who pay lucrative amounts to their missionaries for political propaganda under deeni cover and guise. The Salafis with whom we collide in these times are evil characters who engage in propaganda for sinister worldly and nafsaani motives. To the best of our knowledge, no one in our midst has bothered to criticize Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhaab. We, ourselves, have not bothered to even cast a cursory glance at any of his writings. That is because we are not interested and it does not concern us. But when a Salafi takes up cudgels and actively decries the Haqq of our Math-hab, then there is the need to smash out his brains. We do not seek unnecessary confrontation with the forces of baatil. However, when we are trapped in a confrontation, then retreat is haraam. If you seriously and sincerely look at the moron Salafis with whom we take up issue, you will not fail to realize that all of them are ghutha who must be decapitated. In our scenario, the Salafis in the forefront who indulge in propaganda are all Saudi serfs. They are the slaves and bootlickers of a kaafir, murtad, munaafiq regime. Modernists and deviates, to justify their Shar'i infractions, express umbrage when criticized. One of their monotonous responses is that their critics are judgemental, and that only Allah Ta'ala is the Judge. The fallacy of this argument is refuted by the Qur'aan Majeed and the Sunnah. In reality, being judgmental is a Waajib act. Without being judgemental many Ahkaam of the Shariah cannot be implemented. Allah Ta'ala commanding the need to be judgemental, says: "It is not permissible for the Nabi and the Believers to seek forgiveness for the mushrikeen even though they may be close relatives after it has become manifest for them, that, verily they (the close relatives) are the companions (inmates) of the Blazing Fire." (At-Taubah, Aayat 113). Allah Ta'ala has imposed on us the obligation of judging whether close relatives are to be among the inmates of Jahannam. Once it has become apparent from their conduct that they are destined for the Blazing Fire, then it will not be permissible to supplicate to Allah Ta'ala for forgiveness of the close relatives. On the basis of their shirk we have the right to judge them to be destined for Hell Fire. The Qur'aan Majeed also commands: "O People of Imaan! If there comes to you a faasiq with some information, then ascertain its veracity lest you ignorantly harm people, then you will become remorseful for what you have done." (Al-Hujuraat, Aayat 6) This Aayat explicitly commands us to be judgemental. A determination regarding the fisq of the informer has to be made. On the basis of his conduct, we shall judge whether he is a faasiq or not. The fact is that the Qur'aan orders one to be judgemental and if it is established that the informer is a faasiq, the information he conveys should not be blindly accepted. If the Qaadhi judges a person to be a faasiq, his testimony will be rejected. If we judge a person to be a faasiq, it will not be permissible to accept his testimony for establishing the sighting of the moon. In fact, according to Imaam Shaafi' (Rahmatullah alayh) a faasiq may not be a witness at even a Nikah. It is not permissible to appoint a faasiq to be an Imaam to lead the Salaat. In establishing a man's fisq, we shall be judgemental. It is by being judgemental that a man is declared to be a faasiq. The Shariah has its guidelines for labelling a person a faasiq. If on the basis of these guidelines a man is labelled a faasiq, it will be perfectly valid and permissible. In numerous ahkaam of the Shariah the need for being judgmental is essential. Q. In the Musjidul Haraam thousands of people stand in front of the Imaam when performing Fardh Salaat. Is their Salaat valid? A. They have adopted the Maaliki Math-hab for this practice. According to the Maaliki Math-hab there are two views: permissible and Makrooh. If Hanafis are trapped in this situation, they should repeat their Salaat. Q. In the Gujerati community several households will come together and from each household a sum of money, whatever they can easily give every month, will be given and the total amount will be given to one of the households. The next month another household will receive the net amount which every household gives, and so forth. Is this type of deal Shariah permissible? This is done to make it easy for a household to purchase expensive items such as large appliances and furniture or vehicles etc.. A. If any household makes a contribution with the condition or understanding that their turn will also come to receive a contribution, then the project is not permissible. It will be riba and maisar (gambling). It is haraam. Q. What will be the consequences of a person or an institution that charges to read or make hifz of the Quran, on the day of Qiyamah? There are many immigrant, Islamic centers and African-American Masjids that charge $100-$500 monthly. What is the consequences of this on the Day of Qiyamah? A. The consequence will be the calamity of the Fire of Jahannam. Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayh wasallam) said: "Recite the Qur'aan. Do not eat by means of it." That is: Do not sell the Qur'aan (its recitation) for a miserable price. Q. In our time, many psychologists, coaches and various self-development trainers – including some who wear hijab – have emerged. They often combine Western psychological concepts with Islamic terminology and present these ideas to Muslim women. This includes topics such as islaah, akhlaaq, family relationships and personal development. I am concerned that this approach may mislead Muslim women by mixing the truth with concepts that have no basis in the Shari'ah. How should we advise our Muslim sisters to be cautious and avoid relying on such sources without sound Islamic knowledge? A. These pontiffs are quacks and frauds. It is not permissible to submit to their treatment which damages and even ruins Imaan. Shaitaan adorns their methods with some 'deeni' hues to befuddle and mislead ignorant Muslims. Muslims should not visit these quacks for any kind of assistance. All emotional problems should be treated with Thikrullah. The focus should be on Allah Ta'ala. These quacks only compound the problems. Q. Qiyaam ul Layl in Ramadaan is performed in the Masjid audibly in Jamaat. Is this Sunnah? A. It is bid'ah. Q. At the graveside we were informed that everybody should recite aloud with the Moulana the first Ayaah's of Surah Baqarah and the last two Ayaahs as well. This is the Sunnah method. Is this Sunnah? A. The method told to you is bid'ah. There is no loud dua nor congregational dua to be made in the Qabrustaan. The Sunnah method is explained in our booklet, Ziyaarat-e-Quboor which is available on our website. Q. I would like to ask whether it is permissible for a female to use an AI-generated voice (male or female) for educational purposes instead of her own voice, due to concerns regarding speaking in accordance with Shariah? A. It is not permissible for a female to listen to any program by a male and also vice versa. These AI generated voices are not permissible. A male may listen to only a male's voice and a female to a female's voice. Q. The saff has not yet been filled. A musalli stands at the end knowing that the saff will soon be filled. The Imaam begins the Salaat. Is it proper for this musalli to stand apart in the saff while it is being filled? A. While the Salaat will be valid, it is sinful to do as you have explained. The gap should not be left in anticipation of others filling it. Q. Before the Masbooq (latecomer) completes Attahiyaat, the Imaam makes Salaam. What should he do? Should he complete Attahiyaat or immediately rise? A. Both the Mudrik and the Masbooq should quickly complete Attahiyaat, then rise. Q. My wife works and earns. What is my duty regarding maintenance? A. A wife who works and earns is not entitled to any maintenance. Only the wife who remains within the confines of the home is entitled to maintenance. Q. Is exchanging gifts on Eid days Sunnah? A. Exchanging gifts on Eid days is not Sunnah. It is not an Islamic practice. Giving gifts at any time of the year is permissible. But the custom of exchanging gifts on certain days is not an Islamic practice. Q. Is it permissible for me to make my own vinegar. I will add salt and sugar and allow it to stand until it becomes vinegar. A. Making vinegar by adding salt and sugar and allowing the grape juice to become vinegar is permissible. Q. Is permissible for a female to use an AI-generated male voice for educational purposes instead of her own voice. She is studying at an online university and completes her studies from home. One of her assessments requires her to submit an audio/ video presentation. She has a cochlear implant, and unfortunately, her speech can be difficult to understand through oral communication. Due to this, the university's support services have offered her the use of AI text-to-speech technology to assist with communication. The university has therefore required her to use this alternative AI text-to-speech method for the assessment. It allows her to complete the assessment according to the same academic requirements as other students. A. The male voice, even if artificial, is not permissible. It is best for the girl to abandon the university secular education. There is absolutely no need to pursue university education, but there is an absolute need to observe the laws of the Shariah. We are here in the dunya for a short while. We have to prepare ourselves for the meeting with Allah Ta'ala, and this is achieved via obedience and submission to the Shariah of Allah Ta'ala. Confound the university and its education. Q. Can I bequeath one third of my estate to a child whom I have adopted? A. Yes, you may bequeath one third of your estate to your adopted child. Q. The deceased woman's only relatives are her 2 sisters and one daughter. How should her estate be distributed? A. The daughter receives half (50%) of the estate. The other 50% will be shared equally by the two sisters. Q. I bake and sell cakes. Is it permissible to bake cakes for a baby shower function? A. It is not permissible to participate in the kuffaar practice of 'baby showers'. It is not permissible to bake cakes for the haraam function. The Qur'aan prohibits aiding sin and transgression. Q. I am plagued by an abundance of evil thoughts when in Namaaz and when I make Tilaawat. I then break my Namaaz in an attempt to get rid of the thoughts. I also stop the Qur'aan recitation for a while. What should I do when disturbed by these evil thoughts? A. As long as you do not consciously introduce the ugly thoughts, it will be shaitaani wasaawis for which you are not responsible. Just recite Istighfaar and don't brood on such thoughts. You err in breaking your Salaat because of the evil stray thoughts. When you broke your Salaat then it was a win for shaitaan. Don't stop reading the Qur'aan when the evil thoughts assault you. Just recite Ta-awwuz and continue the tilaawat. When you stop and brood on the evil thoughts, then it will have a negative effect. Therefore, continue with your Ibaadat regardless of how evil the thoughts may be. Now and again renew the recitation of Istighfaar a few times. Q. Is it permissible for two couples to travel in the same car. The two women are in mastooraat jamaat and they are with their husbands. A. Firstly understand well that the so-called 'mastooraat' jamaats are not permissible. Two couples in the same car compounds the sin. Never is it permissible. Do read our book on this issue. The name of the book is Makshufaat Jamaat. It is available on our website. Hard copies are also available. The Tabligh Jamaat has no proper understanding of the Law of Hijaab. The Shariah is second fiddle for the Tablighis. Q. My husband falsely accuses me of adultery. He has accused me falsely several times. What is the state of our nikah? 1) According to the Shariah, a husband who slanders his wife by accusing her of adultery is liable for the Hadd (Qur'aanic Punishment) of eighty lashes. Your nikah is valid. Q. What is the status of a Muslim who demonises the Islamic practice of circumcision? A. Such a person is not a Muslim. He s a murtadd. Only extremely old and sick persons who are unable to fast have to pay Fidyah. As long as you are able to fast, it remains compulsory to fast. Begin with the Name of Allah Ta'ala to discharge your qadha obligation. You have no option but to fast. Begin before Maut claims you. Q. Is it permissible to buy meat from an Iranian shop? A. It is not permissible to buy meat from an Iranian butcher/ shop. Iranians are Shiahs. Q. Mr. A had funds in an overseas account in dollars. Mr. B borrowed the dollars from A to pay back to A in A's home country which is South Africa in Rands. What currency rate must B use to pay the loan back, the rate the day the loan was taken on or the rate the day the loan is being paid back? A. B should pay the amount/ value of the gold which the dollars could procure on the day he acquired the dollar loan. For example, if the day he acquired the loan, the dollars could purchase 2 krugerrands, then whenever he repays the loan he must pay two krugerrands or its current value. Q. A bought goods from his supplier in Pakistan which is paid in dollars. Goods supplied to A were sold to a customer of A's but the customer did not pay for the goods. A few years have passed since the goods were supplied and no payment is forthcoming. A had decided to pay the Pakistan supplier for the goods supplied. A has to arrange payment by arranging forex to pay the account, the forex will be bought in Rands and then gets paid to the supplier via a bank transfer. What rate must A work on to arrange the forex to settle the payment? A. Basically the answer is the same as above. If for example, the price of the goods was $5000 3 years ago when the goods were purchased, then you have to ascertain how much gold could $5000 procure at that time. Now whenever you pay for the goods, you have to pay the same amount of gold or its current value. Q. One of the heirs refuses to accept his share of inheritance. He believes that the distribution is not correct. We have ascertained the correctness from the Ulama. Now what should be done with his share? A. You should have asked the Ulama who calculated the distribution? They should have informed you in this matter. Anyhow, keep the share of the recalcitrant in trust. Perhaps he will come to his senses later and claim his share. Even if he does not, retain the money in trust. Assuming he dies before claiming his share, then distribute it to his heirs. It is best to invest the money in a safe enterprise. If the amount is sufficient to procure a gold coin, then it will be the best and safest investment in the circumstances. Q. If a wild animal is shot with an arrow or a rifle, will the meat be halaal if the anmal is killed with the arrow/bullet? A. The wild animal shot with an arrow on which the Tasmiyah was recited at the time of releasing the arrow will be halaal if the hunter reaches it after it has died. However, if he reaches the animal while it is still alive, he has to slaughter it as usual. If he does not slaughter it, the animal will be haraam. The bullet is not like an arrow. An animal shot with a rifle must incumbently be slaughtered. If it is found dead, it will be carrion. Q. The Musaafir Imaam mistakenly performed four raka'ts Zuhr. What is the position of his Salaat, the Salaat of the Muqeem (resident) Muqtadis and the Musaafir Muqtadis? A. If the Musaafir Imaam did sit in Tashahhud of the second raka't, then his Salaat and the Salaat of the Musaafir muqtadis will be valid. The Salaat of the Muqeem muqtadis is not valid. They have to repeat their Zuhr. Q. I am a Shaafi'. I still have to make Qadha of a number of fasts which I had missed three years ago. What is the ruling of the Shaafi' Math-hab? A. Is it permissible for a daughter-in-law to massage the head of her father-in-law? A. It is improper and not permissible for a woman to massage her father-in-law's head. She should not touch any part of his body. It is fraught with fitnah. Q. Is the daughter-in-law obligated to serve her mother -in-law? A. It is not Waajib for a daughter-in-law to be of service to her mother-in-law. However, while she will be rewarded for the service, it may not be imposed on her. Most certainly she will gain much thawaab for being of service to her mother-in-law. Furthermore, a good woman will be of service to her mother-in-law. Q. I have 5 tolas of gold plus R10,000 cash. How much Zakaat should I pay? A. The Zakaat payable on the combined value is R3,500 (Three thousand five hundred rands). Q. Is it permissible to sell and buy gold jewellery on credit? A. When will test-tube babies be permissible? A. Test tube babies are never ever permissible. The technique is satanic and haraam. Q. Whose responsibility is it to take care of my mother?. Am I responsible? She has married sons. A. The responsibility of caring for your mother devolves solely on her sons. It is not your responsibility nor the responsibility of the son-in-law when she has her own sons. But, if the sons are scoundrels refusing to fulfil their duty to their mother, then you and your husband have to take over the obligation. The thawaab is immense. Q. At a Janazah, the Imaam announced that if the mayyit owed anyone they should contact the son of the Mayyit. The son is not the biological son. He is an adopted son. Is it necessary to have specified that it was the adopted son and is it deceptive to refer to him as 'son' of the Mayyit? A. There was no need for the Imaam to have made the announcement. The creditors will obviously go to the heirs/executor to claim. The announcement is a bid'ah custom. He should not have said that the adopted person is the son of the mayyit. Q. A mother and wife mentioned that their menfolk who are studying at a Darul Uloom in Robertsham have to compulsorily go for an outing to Warmbaths or some resort now in September. Apparently chalets are booked and the students and Asaatizah go. I am wondering what does this have to do with the acquisition of Ilm and then also leaving all the womenfolk while the men go on a holiday in the name of the compulsory rule of the Madrasah. The womenfolk did mention that they don't feel safe having to stay alone at home. Is this rule of the Madrasah proper? A. Darul Ulooms in this age are teaching Ilm for the Dunya. They are signs of Qiyaamah. It is mentioned in the Hadith that among the signs of Qiyaamah is that Ilm will be imparted for worldly objectives. The rule of this Darul Uloom highlights the sign of Qiyaamah mentioned in the Hadith. The rule is haraam. The outing is haraam. It is pure nafsaaniyat. Q. I live in Ladysmith. I travel to Durban where I am a musaafir. On my return journey my intention is to go to Glencoe which is 40 Km from Ladysmith. On my way back I will be passing Ladysmith. You acted correctly by abstaining from a haraam feast. Q. Some muftis say that dancing is permissible as long as haraam actions are not committed. They cite the dancing of the Abyssinian slaves during the time of Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) as the basis for permissibility. This is something very disturbing. Is their fatwa valid? A. These 'muftis' are morons. In this era of extreme immorality and fitnah, these morons saw it fit to halaalize dancing - dancing which is zina. When dancing is mentioned in our day, the Abyssinian war 'dance' of 15 centuries ago does not come to mind. By dancing today is understood the zina baboonery prancing exhibition of kuffaar. These muftis are extreme in stupidity. Perhaps they are gays, hence their rubbish 'fatwa'. They are mudhilleen who are candidates for Dajjaal's fellowship. Q. Some years ago I committed a very evil sin. I have sincerely repented, but I am still extremely worried of being exposed. What can I do? A. As long as you have regret and you repent, Insha-Allah, your past sins will not be exposed. Occasionally renew Taubah. Forget about the past sin. Make dua for protection. Recite YAA SAT-TAARO frequently. This is one of the Names of Allah Ta'ala. It means: O You Who are the Concealer of sin! Allah Ta'ala always conceals the sins of the true repenter. Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said: "The true repenter of sins is like one who has no sins." Q. The Imaam sat in qa'dah in the first raka't. However, before the duration of three Tasbeeh, he got up into the second raka't. Did he have to recite Takbeer? Was Sajdah Sahw necessary? A. He should repeat Takbeer. There's a prominent organization that collects Zakaat and paying someone's medical aid. But this person for the past 3 years is living a perfectly normal life like any normal person. For the past two years this person went to Durban for the December holidays and went deep sea fishing, bay fishing and fishing in the harbour from a boat. He is also vaping. Is it permissible for this prominent organisation that have branches nationally to pay his medical aid? The branch in question is in Fordsburg. A. It is haraam to pay the medical aid insurance of this person who lives in luxury. Zakaat is the right of the Fuqara and Masaakeen. The organization is abusing the Amaanat of Zakaat. Q. I am writing to seek your guidance regarding my daughter, who is in Year 10. She attends a Catholic girls' college, and her school has organized an end-of-year "social" function. As part of this event, she will be going to a boys' college in the evening for the social gathering. She has told me that she will be sitting with her female friends and does not intend to interact with the boys. Given these details, is it still appropriate for her to attend this school-organized social? A. Firstly understand well that it is haraam for her to even attend the school of the catholic mushrikeen. You have already ruined her Islamic moral character. The social zina event is simply the last nail in her coffin of moral and Imaani ruin. The school is haraam and the social function is doubly haraam. It is a function of zina in terms of the Shariah. Q. If Isha' Salaat was mistakenly performed without wudhu, but the two Sunnats thereafter and the Witr were performed with Wudhu, should all of these Salaat be repeated? A. The Isha' and the 2 raka'ts Sunnat should be repeated, not the Witr. However, it is better to repeat even the Witr since this is the Fatwa of Imaam Abu Yusuf (Rahmatullah alayh) and Imaam Muhammad (Rahmatullah alayh). Q. Is it the obligation of a father to support his adult unmarried daughter? A man says that since she is an adult, he is not responsible for her. A. Something is drastically amiss with this man's brains. He is responsible for even his destitute neighbours and for other poor Muslims. Every Muslim is responsible for supporting the poor and destitute in accordance with his affordability. Most certainly according to the Shariah it is the father's obligation to financially support his daughter regardless of her being an adult. Q. After slaughtering a chicken, the person left to wash his knife and put it away. Then he noticed that he had cut only two veins instead of the three necessary veins. The first claim on the estate of the deceased is burial expenses, then the claims of creditors, then comes Wasiyyat, and lastly the heirs. The Wasiyyat amount will be taken from one third of the value of the estate. Not from more. After the wasiyyat is paid, the remainder will be for the heirs. Q. The deceased is survived by his mother, 2 sons, 2 daughters and one brother. What are the shares of these heirs? A. Mother one sixth. The balance will be divided into 6 shares. Each son receives two and each daughter one share. Alternately, divide the estate into 36 shares and distribute as follows: Mother 6, each son 10 and each daughter 5. Is it a Sunnah to lie down for a couple of minutes after performing the two raka'ts Sunnat of Fajr? A. Lying down after the two raka'ts Sunnats of Fajr is not Sunnah according to the Hanafi Math-hab. Are women not allowed to attend even walimahs where there will be no intermingling? A. Yes, it is not permissible for females to attend even walimahs even if there are separate arrangements. It belongs to all the heirs. You must return it to the estate. Q. My father gave me an amount to give to his friend as a gift. Before I could deliver the gift, my father passed away. My Mahr and other jewellery is in the custody of my mother-in-law who now refuses to give it to me. Does she have the right to deny me my possessions? A. Your ex-mother-in-law is a rogue. Her usurpation of your jewellery is haraam. Some seniors at your end should explain to her and to your ex-husband the villainy of their usurpation. This kind of usurpation is committed by many in-laws when divorce takes place. It is best to entrust one's gold jewellery to one's own family. It should not be left at the in-laws. Q. Is it permissible to teach my daughter to drive? The intention is that if an emergency develops, she will be able to attend to it? A. The emergency idea is a waswasah from shaitaan. Shitaan is an expert in adorning even zina with cunning arguments. It is not permissible for women to drive. The curse of Allah Ta'ala will settle on her and on you. Q. My wife consults with a fortune-teller who predicts the future. I was told that it is kufr. What is the status of our Nikah? A. Consulting with a fortuneteller is kufr. Asking him about unseen events is kufr. She has to renew her Imaan. She should repent, accept that what she did is haraam, then renew the Shahaadat and Nikah. Q. How should children be dressed indoors and outdoors? A. Whether it is indoors or outdoors, the children should be dressed in the same Islamic attire. From infancy the children should be dressed Islamically, not in western styles as is the practice nowadays. Children are dressed in kuffaar styles. The sin is on the parents. Babies should not be dressed with kuffaar fashion clothes. Q. I am liable for some Qur'baanis which were Waajib. A friend owes me a substantial amount which he cannot repay. Will my Qur'baani obligation be discharged if I cancel the debt in lieu of the Qur'baani amount? A. Waiving a debt does not absolve you from the Qur'baani obligation. The actual monetary sum should be given as Sadqah to the poor. The price of a sheep/goat is necessary for one Qadha Qur'baani. Q. My deceased mother had not made a wasiyyat to pay Fidyah for her missed Salaat. The heirs are happy to pay the Fidyah. Is it permissible to set aside one third of the estate for this purpose - that is before the distribution? A. No, they may not take out one third before distribution of the assets. Only after each heir receives his/her share, may they contribute of their free will whatever amount they wish. Pressure may not be applied on any heir to contribute. Q. Does Qur'aan recitation benefit the deceased? Can the reward also be for those who are still living, e.g. for my parents? A. The Qur'aan benefits the deceased much. The deceased look forward for the reward of Qur'aan Tilaawat. It is also permissible for relatives who are still alive. Q. Is it permissible to buy and sell synthetic wigs and such creams, etc. used for skin lighting? A. These acts are satanistic interference in the natural creation of Allah Ta'ala. Such satanism is termed Taghyeer-e-Khalqillah which is forbidden in the Qur'aan Majeed. 1) Even synthetic wigs and the like are haraam. It is not permissible to participate in such a business. In fact, the type of business they are operating is confirmed shaitaaniyat which comes within the scope of Aayat 119 of Surah Nisaa'. Q. Is stem cell therapy permissible? Some Muftis say that it is permissible. It has also been said that according to Taqwa it is necessary to abstain. A. Stem Cell therapy is haraam. The Muftis has erred. Out detailed answer appears on our website. The issue has no relevance to Taqwa. Maitah (carrion) is haraam. Human parts are haraam. The matter is unrelated to Taqwa. Q. What is the status of ibn Sina (Avcenna)? I have heard conflicting accounts of him. A. Ibn Sina subscribed to many of the kufr beliefs of the Greek Philosophers. Due to the beliefs of kufr he was not a Muslim. Q. I am invited at my in-laws for a birthday party. The program is: refreshments, tea snacks, cake cutting, dinner and dessert. My husband says that I should attend to maintain family ties. Is it permissible to attend the birthday party? A. It is not permissible to attend the haraam party. Birthday parties are kuffaar customs. Family ties may not be maintained by means of haraam acts. Q. I will not attend the birthday party to which I have been invited. If they send some of the birthday cake and dinner food, what should I do? A. Do not eat anything from the accursed food. Give it to a dog or to some non-Muslim. Q. My brother is a flagrant faasiq. He has no beard and he wears shorts exposing his thighs. If he greets me, should I reply with Salaam? A. It is not permissible to greet the shameless faasiq brother. If he asks the reason for not greeting, then explain that it is not permissible to greet a faasiq regardless of his annoyance. Q. I am a Shaafi' who performs Salaat behind a Hanafi Imaam. In Surah Saad there is a Sajdah Tilaawat which is Waajib for Hanafis. However, for Shaafis it is a Sajdah Shukr which is not to be made in Salaat. What should I do when the Hanafi Imaam makes the Sajdah? A. Yes, for Shaafis the Sajdah in Surah Saad is Sajdah Shukr. If the Shaafi intentionally makes this Sajdah in Salaat, his Salaat will become baatil (invalid). If the Sajdah is made during Salaat forgetfully or by mistake, then while the Salaat will not be invalid, Sajdah Sahw should be made. If the Imaam is a Hanafi, the Shaafi Muqtadi should remain standing when the Imaam makes the Sajdah. He should not follow the Hanafi Imaam in this Sajdah. However, if the people are ignorant and given to stupid controversies, then the Shaafi muqtadi should make the intention of separating himself from the Imaam. He should complete his Salaat alone. The niyyat of separation should be made immediately, that is, before the Imaam has exited from Qiyaam. If the niyyat of separation is made after the Imaam's Qiyaam, then the Shaafi Muqtadi should make Sajdah Sahw. Q. On some calendars and timetables Qur'aanic verses and Ahaadith are printed. Is it permissible to dispose of such material by shredding and recycling? A. If the time tables, etc. have any Qur'aanic aayat or Hadith printed, then shredding and recycling are not permissible. The items should be buried. Question: A secular Islamic school has organized a matric dinner party. Encouraging participation, the organizers quoted a Hadith which mentions the virtues of knowledge. Is a matric dinner party ever permissible and is the quotation of the Hadith appropriate? Answer The dinner party is haraam. It is a party of fisq and fujoor. Promoting fisq and fujoor with the Hadith and Qur'aan is KUFR – kufr which expels the miserable shaitaani organizers from the fold of Islam. It is just like reciting Bismillah when consuming carrion and drinking wine or when committing zina. The secular school is never 'islamic'. It is a shaitaani school. All kinds of haraam activities will grace the haraam matric dinner party. Most assuredly, a haraam satanic party comes necessarily with the presence of females. Minus females there can be no party. And the presence of females confirms the perpetration of wholesale zina – zina of a variety of kinds as mentioned by Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam). The La'nat (Curse) of Allah Azza Wa Jal settles on the satanic party, on the organizers, on the participants, on the parents and on the molvis of the town who have opted to weld their lips thereby proffering implied condemnation for the haraam zina shaitaani party Begum Zaib Baanoo, the wife of Sultan Aurangzeb (Aalamghir), had developed a lump on her breast. The English doctor, Martin proposed that a female relative of his could attend to the Queen. His relative was also a doctor. The Queen agreed on condition that the English lady doctor is not a consumer of liquor. However, it was established that the lady doctor was a drinker of alcohol as are all western non-Muslims. The Queen refusing to be treated by the English lady commented: "A faasiqah may not touch my body." The Queen chose sickness, but for a faasiqah to touch her was intolerable. She remained without being cured and died two years later. "The Servants of Allah are those who walk on earth With humility. When the jaahiloon (ignoramuses) address them, they (the Servants of Allah) say: 'Salaam'" (Al-Furqaan, Aayat 63) "(They are) those who do not engage in falsehood. When they pass by frivolous (nonsensical) acts, they pass by gracefully." (Al-Furqaan, Aayat 72) Some of the noble attributes of true Mu'mneen are mentioned in these verses. The instruction is to abstain from engaging the juhala (morons/ignoramuses) in discussion. It is the practice of morons to initiate arguments regarding Deeni masaa-il. Their talk is motivated by insincerity and their desire is to flaunt knowledge and to indulge in stupid debating. The reaction of the Servants of Allah should be silence and to move on gracefully without becoming embroiled in the nonsense these juhala pipe. "Do the people think that they will be left (by Allah) after they have said: 'We believe', without them being cast into trial?" (Al-Ankaboot, Aayat 2) This world is the abode of trials and tribulations. There is not a single person regardless of his lofty worldly status and wealth, who does not have to undergo trials. It is in the Plan of Allah Ta'ala for people to be subjected to trials – hardships, sickness, poverty, fear, calamity, etc. Therefore, the Mu'min should not lose hope nor panic when calamity befalls. It is merely part of earthly life. It is a purifier which purifies the Saabir Mu'min of his sins. The reaction should be Istighfaar in abundance, Taubah, Sabr, Dua and Inaabat (turning to Allah Ta'ala with a renewed pledge of obedience). "Regarding those who are kaafir, do not allow their kufr to grieve you. Unto Us is their return. Then We shall inform them of their perpetration. Verily, Allah is aware of the issues of the breasts (hearts)." (Luqmaan, Aayat 23) Allah Ta'ala consoling our Nabi (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said that the rejection of the kuffaar- their rejection of Islam - should not grieve him. The obligation of the Nabi and of those who follow the Nabi (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) is only to present the Message of Islam. Guidance is the prerogative of only Allah Ta'ala. Those who are engaging in Tableegh and Da'wat should not gain the idea that their effort reforms people and brings them into Imaan. This is a gross misunderstanding from which the Tablighis suffer. It is not possible to convince any one. It is only when Allah Ta'ala wills guidance that He grants the person the taufeeq to understand and to accept the Deen. People accept the Deen and become reformed because of Hidaayat, not because of our efforts. O my Son! * Allah Ta'ala protects the one who admonishes himself. Allah increases the honour of one who deals justly with people. * Disgrace in the wake of obedience to Allah, brings about proximity to Allah Ta'ala, and respect in the wake of disobedience distances one from Allah Ta'ala. * The punishment the father metes out to his son, is like fertilizer for the farm. * Beware of debt. Debt causes disgrace during the day, and worry during the night. * Lies eliminate (spiritual) glitter from the face. An evil character afflicts one with considerable worry. * It is easier to move rocks than to convince a moron. * I have lifted rocks, iron and many loads. No load is heavier than an evil neighbour. * Nothing is as bitter as dependence on others. * Participate much in Janaazah (funerals), and abstain from participating in weddings. * Do not eat to satiation (i.e. do not fill your stomach to capacity). At the time of satiation it is better to give your food to a dog than to eat it. * There is no goodness in acquiring further knowledge if you do not practically implement your existing knowledge. * Before befriending someone, observe his conduct in anger. If in anger he acquits himself with justice, then befriend him otherwise maintain your distance from him. While a jaahil (ignorant) woman was dying she was uttering some words. Her ignorant relatives did not understand what she was saying. They called a Molvi and asked him to listen to her 'muttering'. The Molvi listened carefully and heard her saying in Arabic: "These two men are saying: 'Enter into Jannat." The Molvi Sahib informed her relatives that she had been given the glad tidings of Jannat. He was curious to know what her good deeds were to entitle her to this good fortune. They said that leave alone good deeds, she was in fact extremely irreligious. The Molvi Sahib urged them to ponder. Finally they said that the only good deed she had was to become very attentive whenever the Athaan was being proclaimed. She would not speak nor allow others in her presence to speak for the duration of the Athaan. She would listen attentively. This respect which she showed for Allah's Name had effaced all her evil deeds. The respect for the Athaan safeguarded the Imaan of the irreligious woman. Nowadays it is seen that even senior Ulama lack in this respect. They continue in conversation whilst the Athaan is being proclaimed. This evil is committed despite them being fully aware that the Sunnah is to maintain silence, listen to the Athaan and to respond in the Masnoon manner. This Sunnah may not be displaced with Tilaawat and Ta'leem. The Ustaadh should terminate his teaching and the reciter should terminate his Tilaawat when the Athaan is being proclaimed. While the Tilaawat and Ta'leem could be resumed, there is no substitute for the Sunnah which has been abandoned. "Say: 'Verily Allah misguides whomever He wills and He guides towards Him those who turn to Him (with repentance and obedience). They are those who have Imaan, whose hearts derive peace with the Thikr of Allah. Behold! It is with the Thikr of Allah that hearts derive tranquility." (Ar-Ra'd, 27 & 28) Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said: "The Saalihoon (the Ulama and Auliya of Taqwa) are departing (from this world) one after the other (in quick succession). Then will remain only the Hufaalah (Rubbish/ Chaff) such as the hufaalah of dates or barley. Allah will have no care whatsoever for them." The status of the vast majority, in fact of almost all the molvis and sheikhs of this era is HUFAALAH. Question: Is the stepfather a mahram for his stepdaughter? Can she go on a journey with him? Answer: A man is not a valid mahram for his stepdaughter. There must necessarily be a degree of hijaab between them. This applies even if the stepfather is a buzrug or a Sheikh of Tasawwuf. But in these times, they are fussaaq and fujjaar. Even the girls are faasiqah/faajirah. Our finger is on the pulse of the community. Over the many decades we have been apprized of innumerable cases of sexual corruption and molestation perpetrated by so-called mahrams – stepfathers, uncles, fathers-in-law and even grandfathers. They acquit themselves like vile rascals displaying attitudes of atheism. They are satanically blind regarding the Presence of Allah Ta'ala and the Two Recording Angels. Right in the Presence of Allah Ta'ala and the Angels they commit their vile acts of sexual misdemeanors. When the nafs goaded on by Iblees lapses into the state of drunken lust, then the awareness of being a mahram does not dawn, and even if there is this awareness, the satanic lust is overwhelming because practically the scoundrel happens to be an atheist. The Fuqaha have emphasized the need for even uncles to exercise caution with their nieces. While this is the advice of the Fuqaha, we are aware of numerous satanic episode of sexual molestation by these fussaaq/fujjaar mahrams. They should be treated as ghair mahrams. Just the other day, i.e. a couple of months ago, a man was separated from his wife because he fell in love with his wife's daughter. Both the rubbish man and the rubbish girl insist that it is permissible for them to 'marry'. Some jaahil, murtad character even performed their bogus 'nikah', and today they are living as 'husband and wife'. A man is not a valid mahram for his stepdaughter. In fact, nowadays they are scoundrels who may not be trusted. Hijaab is incumbent. Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said: "The (Ummah of) Muslims is like one man. If the eye pains, the entire body is affected. If the head pains, the entire body is affected." Only those whose Imaan is healthy are imbued with this attitude. As for the vast majority of Muslims, the suffering of Muslims at large is of no concern and no meaning. Muslims by the million are suffering and being brutalized by the kuffaar all over the world. Their suffering is heart rendering. The Ummah is burning while most Muslims are indulging in merrymaking, sport, waste and shaitaaniyat. Sport and wedding affairs, jalsahs and other satanic customs, etc. have become the ways of life for Muslims regardless of the misery of other Muslims. This state of affairs is an ugly and miserable commentary of the state of the Imaan of the brothers of the shayaateen. The evil molvis and sheikhs of this age are at the helm of the rot which is devouring this unfortunate miserable Ummah. Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said: "Allah's Gift for the Mu'mn is the standing of the beggar at his doorstep." Feed the poor, whether Muslim or non-Muslim. The pauper is Allah's Gift for you. Do not become fed-up when he repeatedly stands at your doorstep. Feed him for the Sake of Allah Ta'ala. When you feel annoyed, then recall that Allah Ta'ala says in the Qur'aan Majeed: "They (the Muttaqeen) feed the poor, the orphan and the prisoner for the Love of Allah. (And they say): 'We feed you for the Sake of Allah. We have no desire for any reward from you nor for any thanks." "The Thunder and the Angels recite His praise because of His fear. And, He (Allah) dispatches the lightning, striking with it whomever He wills whilst they (the people) dispute about (the Shariah) of Allah. He is Most Powerful." (Ar-Ra'd, Aayat 13) "The seven heavens, the earth and whatever is therein recite the Tasbeeh of Allah. Everything recites His Tasbeeh, but you do not understand." (Al-Kahf, Aayat 44) While all and everything in creation, big and small, mighty and weak, engage perpetually in the glorification of Allah Azza Wa Jal, Muslims of these times indulge in play, amusement and merrymaking in total oblivion of the Presence of Allah Azza Wa Jal. While Maut stalks them and the Qabar calls on them five times daily, proclaiming: "I am an abode of darkness; an abode of worms; an abode of torment……", people who profess to be Muslims swirl happily in their whirlpool of fisq and fujoor. They will wake up when their souls will be harshly wrenched by the Angel of Death. Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) prescribed Surah Faatihah as a cure for every disease. Allah Ta'ala says in the Qur'aan Majeed that in honey is shifa' (cure). This is the truth which has been substantiated innumerable times. However, it should be understood that sin reduces and even eliminates the curing efficacy of spiritual remedies. This applies especially to the filth of cellphone and internet immorality. The ailing person should be given honey. Someone should recite Surah Faatihah 3 or 7 times and blow on him/ her. This should be repeatedly done. The sick person should also recite this Surah and blow on himself/herself. Insha-Allah, there will be shifa'. And, if one is not cured, then resign to the decree of Allah Ta'ala. Whatever happens is ultimately the decree of Allah Ta'ala. He knows and we know not. Hadhrat Ibraahim Khawwaas (rahmatullah alayh) said: "A man does not become an Aalim with only textual (book) knowledge. In reality, an Aalim is he whose amal (practical life) conforms to his Ilm. He practices in accordance with the precepts of the Qur'aan Majeed and follows the Sunnah of Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam). His prime objective and pursuit are the Pleasure of Allah Ta'ala. Such a man is a true Aalim even if his textual knowledge is minimal." Mere textual knowledge is not sufficient for the purification of the Rooh and for divine proximity. Being a molvi does not necessarily mean that one is an Aalim. The Ulama are those in whom the Fear of Allah Ta'ala is diffused. In this regard, the Qur'aan Majeed states: "Verily, of the servants of Allah, only the Ulama fear Allah." "Therefore flee towards Allah. Verily, I am from Him a clear warner for you." (Ath-Thaariyaat, Aayat 50) In all situations 'flee' towards Allah Ta'ala. Flee from the dunya and run unto Allah Ta'ala. This flight is accomplished by submitting to the Shariah of Allah Ta'ala and adopting the Sunnah of Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam). Besides Allah Ta'ala there is no succour for Muslims. "Verily, We have come to you with the Haqq (Truth). But most of you are averse to the Haqq." (Az-Zukhruf, Aayat 78) "Allah obliterates baatil (falsehood) and Allah establishes the Haqq with His Word." (Ash-Shuraa', Aayat 24) Hadhrat Haamid Aswad (rahmatullah alayh) together with his Shaikh, Hadhrat Ibraahim Khawwaas (rahmatullah alayh) were on a journey. They passed through a jungle with snakes in profusion. Seeing all the snakes, Hadhrat Haamid became fearful. He urged his Shaikh to make haste so that they could be out of these dangerous precincts before nightfall. To his astonishment, he saw Hadhrat Ibraahim spreading his bed for the night. Hadhrat Haamid was overcome with fear. During the night snakes were all around them. Unable to contain his fear, Hadhrat Haamid complained to his Shaikh who reprimandingly instructed him not to fear, and to become engrossed in Thikr. When he commenced Thikr, he saw the snakes disappearing. Sometime thereafter he fell asleep. Suddenly his eyes opened and he saw numerous snakes around him. Full of fear, he called to his Shaikh, who again reprimanded him and ordered him to engage in Thikr. As soon as he began Thikrullaah, the snakes disappeared. In the morning after Fajr Salaat, Hadhrat Haamid saw a huge serpent precisely at the spot where the Shaikh's musalla was. In astonishment he exclaimed: "O Shaikh! What is this!" Hadhrat Ibraahim Khawwaas said: "You desire that your name be entered into the roll of the Auliya, but you are still trapped in childhood. Do you not reflect. The entire night we were surrounded by innumerable snakes, but by the grace and mercy of Allah we remained safe from the danger of these serpents. Can you not understand that this is the effect of Thikrullah and Tilaawat of the Qur'aan Majeed!" During the Khilaafat (Reign) of Hadhrat Umar (radhiyallahu anhu), the army of Islam reached Mt. Halwaan in Iraq and it was Asr time. The Muath-thin proclaimed the Athaan. When the Muath-thin recited: "Allaahu Akbar!", a voice from within the mountain responded: "La qad kab barta kabeeran" (Verily, you have proclaimed a mighty Takbeer). When the Muath-thin recited: "Ash-hadunna Muhammadar Rasulullaah", the voice responded: "He is the Nabi about whom Hadhrat Isaa (alayhis salaam) delivered to us glad tidings." The Voice responded to every statement of the Muath-thin. At the ending of the Athaan, the Sahaabah addressed the Voice of the unseen being, and said: "O being! May the mercy of Allah be on you. Are you an Angel or a Jinn or some other slave of Allah? You have transmitted your voice to us. Now reveal yourself. We are the Sahaabah of Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) and the army of Hadhrat Umar (radhiyallahu anhu)." Suddenly, the mountain split, and in the same way as the miraculous Camel of Nabi Saalih (alayhis salaam) had emerged from the mountain which had split open, there emerged from Mount Halwaan, an extremely old man. He made Salaam and said: "I am from the tribe of Bin Barthamla (a tribe of Bani Israaeel) and a Companion of Hadhrat Isaa (alayhis salaam). He had ordered me to take up residence in this mountain. He had made Dua to Allah Ta'ala to grant me life until he descends from the heaven. Convey my Salaams to Umar Ibn Khattaab." He then promptly disappeared into thin air. Despite numerous searches undertaken, the Sahaabah never were able to locate him. Allah's Qudrat and mysteries are indeed marvellous. That Sahaabi of Hadhrat Isaa (alayhis salaam) is today well over 2000 years old and will join Hadhrat Isaa (alayhis salaam) when he appears on earth. Offering admonition to the Auliya in particular, Hadhrat Shibli (rahmatullah alayh) said that Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) warned against satiation (i.e. filling the stomach with food). Satiation extinguishes the lamp of the Noor of Ma'rifat in the heart." The method for dispelling evil thoughts of shaitaan, according to the Qur'aan is to recite Ta-awwuth (Authu billaahi minash shaitaanir rajeem). Ta'awwuth should be recited immediately when the shaitaani thought assaults one. Never brood on the thought. Once one begins to entertain the evil waswasah, it will become embedded in the mind. Dispel it with immediate recitation of Ta-awwuth. Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said that shaitaan will approach you and cast in your mind: "Who created this and that? Eventually he will ask you: 'Who created your Rabb?' When this thought develops, then seek refuge with Allah (recite Ta-awwuz) and ignore the issue." A very efficacious method of warding off shaitaani waswasah is to ignore it and not to be concerned regardless of how evil the thoughts may be. Question: The people in charge of the Houghton Musjid in Johannesburg had an event called 'Mosque Open Day'. All and sundry – kuffaar men and women - were invited to participate in this 'open day' event. What is the ruling of the Shariah in this regard? Answer: The 'mosque open day' party is a shaitaani jaunt organized by fussaaq/fujjaar whose Imaan dangles by a thread. The rubbish who organize such evil stupidities to desecrate the Musaajid are all agents of Iblees. Shaitaan has co-opted them into his mafia league to dismantle Islam. These vile organizers are all in the interfaith plot to destroy the Deen. They execute the plot of Shaitaan under Deeni colours and guise to befool and entrap morons. Instead of Musaajid being abodes of Hidaayat, in these times in close proximity to Qiyaamah, the Musaajid are bereft of even a semblance of hidaayat. About these Musaajid which are employed to promote kufr, fisq and fujoor, Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said: "Soon shall there dawn an age when nothing will remain of the Qur'aan, but its text. Nothing will remain of Islam, but its name. The Musaajid will be elaborate ornate structures (such as the Houghton Musjid), but bereft of Hidaayat. The worst of the people under the canopy of the sky will be their Ulama (who have welded their lips). From them will emerge fitnah, and the fitnah will hem them in." "Every minor and major deed is recorded." (Al-Qamar, Aayat 53) Do not be complacent regarding so-called minor (sagheerah) sins. Every act regardless of how small it may be, is recorded and will be seen in Qiyaamah. So-called 'small' sins committed even decades ago during one's youth remain in the Record Book. Therefore, do not become bold and complacent. Hadhrat Ibraahim Khawwaas (rahmatullah alayh) said: "The balm of the heart is to be found in five acts: In tilaawat of the Qur'aan Majeed and contemplation on it. Abstention from satiation, i.e. not filling the stomach. Spending the night time in ibaadat. Supplicating with humility and tears to Allah Ta'ala in the morning (i.e. as Subh Saadiq appears). Adopting the companionship of the Saaliheen (the pious). Question: The trend of gender reveal parties is on the increase and has found a way into so-called Deeni families. A fatwa issued by a Mufti of Darul Ifta Chicago claims that baby showers and gender reveal parties are permissible because these are not considered religious customs. He says that even celebratory elements such as piñatas and confetti canons at these parties are permissible. Please comment. Answer: Read what the originator of this evil, immoral, haraam practice has to say, and you will gain a better understanding of the immoral filth of these shaitaani-nafsaani parties of bestial enjoyment. Today there is glut of one cent 'muftis' who lack expertise in even the rudiments of Istinja, but they advertise themselves as Muftis of Darul Iftas. 'Muftis' and 'darul iftas' of today are clowns and circuses established by Iblees. They are all signs of the approaching Hour of Qiyaamah. Knowledge is not a requisite for understanding the evil and these kuffaar bestial merrymaking customs. It is a waste of time and brains to present academic argument for the rubbish which these cheap-skate maajin moron 'muftis' halaalize and with which they pave the path of Jahannam for the ignoramuses who desire the fatwas of permissibility. Those who indulge in these evil immoral kuffaar parties are not in need of fatwas for fulfilling their bestial desires. Their bestiality and brainal abnormality suffice for guidance towards Jahannam. Fatwas are not necessary. The path of Hell is wide open and easily recognizable. Anyhow, these moron 'muftis' are experts in the science of Satanism. The Chicago jaahil 'mufti' seems to be an expert in shaitaaniyat, hence he excels in the art of jahaalat. Citing a smattering of Arabic references does not bestow Shar'i validity for shaitaani copro mullock which these morons disgorge in the form of 'fatwa'. These parties are HARAAM. Jenna Karvunidis accidentally created a monster. Now she argues that the concept of gender is limiting Jenna Karvunidis, as told to Molly Langmuir Mon 29 Jun 2020 07.00 BST In 2008, while pregnant with her eldest child, Bianca, Jenna Karvunidis threw a party at which she announced the baby's sex by cutting into a cake filled with pink icing. She wrote about the event on her blog, and her post went viral. Soon "gender-reveal parties" became a massive trend, one that has come to involve increasingly extravagant choreographed "reveals" and sometimes even deadly stunts. One such party led to a 47,000-acre wildfire in Arizona; another involved explosives that killed a soon-to-be grandmother. Karvunidis now considers the parties problematic, partly because they've gotten so out of hand, but also because of the message they send. "Who cares what gender the baby is?" she asked in a Facebook post in 2019. Her post again went viral, alongside a photo of her family featuring her daughter wearing a pale blue blazer and pants. "PLOT TWIST," Karvunidis wrote. "The world's first gender-reveal party baby is a girl who wears suits!" She spoke to the Guardian about the trend she unwittingly started, and its limitations. I was certainly not anticipating creating an entire identity for my child. I was just looking for a way to up the ante and get everyone excited and involved. And I have a flair for theatrics and love to throw parties – we had a party for the goldfish once. We have a blowout for the dog every year. I just kind of invented an occasion out of it. It was maybe a year or so later that I started seeing people I didn't know having parties kind of copying mine with gender reveal cakes. It was really weird to me. I kept thinking maybe someone did one before me but NPR did this whole exhaustive thing and got to the bottom of it. When I first saw that a gender -reveal party had caused a forest fire I cried because I felt responsible. A Concerned Brother from UK writes: "I am writing on behalf of several Muslim fathers here in UK. Wallah! The spread of liberalism of western secular values has polluted almost every Muslim home. The children of religious families are uninterested in the deen. Even the sons of Ulama have drifted away from the Deen. Young people, even those who attend madrasah are not performing salah. Children don't respect their parents, women don't respect their husbands. Many fathers try to give their children an Islamic tarbiyyah but their sons and daughters are so away from deen. One can only ask: Where have we gone wrong? Many of us try to make the children perform salah from young age. Many send their children to madrasah or even boarding madrasah but these children are openly denying the commands of Allah Ta'ala. One local family, the father was a daily attendee of a masjid, his son had become murtad (Aoodhubillah). Kindly give some advice that I can convey to my peers and friends." (End of the Brother's lament) Comment A similar shaitaani fate is overtaking the entire Ummah in all countries although the UK in the West is in the frontline of the anti-Islam plot. Parents too have grossly neglected their children during the most delicate phase of their lives. The children are assigned to the care of kuffaar and fussaaq for about two decades. From nursery school to university – what do you expect? Buzrugs? Then to compound the satanic conflagration into which the children are burning, parents allow the children to have cellphones and access to pornography (facebook and the like). What can be expected from these satanist children? Their brains and hearts are satanized by the deluge of fisq, fujoor and kufr with which they are indoctrinated during the most formative period of their lives. Thus, what you have lamented about is the logical consequence of the cult of fisq, fujoor and kufr to which the children are exposed. To add to this satanic conflagration is the abdication of responsibility by parents. The mother is behind the wheel. She slips out from the home in the morning to attend to her monetary requisites. She grossly abuses with neglect and indifference the Amaanat of children which Allah Ta'ala has bestowed to her custody. The father is engrossed in his dunya. There is hardly any communication – no ta'leem and no tarbiyyatt administered by the parents. Thus, the rotten state of the children is the consequence of a compound of shaitaaniyat and nafsaaniyat of both the parents and the children. In this sordid mess there is no hope for reformation. Cry – shed tears and make dua. May Allah Ta'ala help us all. "They who obey Allah and the Rasool, indeed they will be with those whom Allah has favoured from the Nabiyeen, Siddiqeen, Shuhada and Saaliheen. Indeed they are the best of Companions." (An-Nisaa', Aayat 69) Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said that a person is on the track of his friend. Therefore, ponder well about the one whom you take as a friend. On the Day of Qiyaamah a person will be with those whom he loved and with whom he associated. Those who adopt the Sunnah will be in Jannat among the Ambiyaa, Siddiqeen, Shuhada and the Saaliheen. On the contrary, those who follow and imitate the kuffaar will be among them. They will be resurrected with Fir'oun, Haamaan and Qaaroon, and with the Yahood and Nasaara whom they bootlick and emulate. Once during his Khilaafat, Hadhrat Umar (Radhiyallahu anhu) could not find any locusts anywhere in the region. He was overcome by fear. He went to extraordinary lengths to ascertain if the species of locusts had vanished from the surface of the earth. He sent a horse-rider to Yemen, another to Iraq and a third one to Shaam to make intensive enquiries regarding the existence of locusts. The person sent to Yemen returned with a handful of locusts which he spread in front of Hadhrat Umar (Radhiyallahu anhu). Seeing the locusts, Hadhrat Umar (Radhiyallahu anhu) exclaimed in delight: "Allaahu Akbar!" Then he said: "I heard Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) saying: 'Verily, Allah Azza Wa Jal has created a thousand (species of animals). Six hundred are in the ocean and four hundred are on the land. The first of these species to become extinct will be locusts. When the locusts become extinct, then all the other species will follow suit (swiftly) as the beads scatter from the string (which is cut)." The reference is to the period in close proximity to Qiyaamah. When Hadhrat Umar (Radhiyallahu anhu) could not find any locusts, he was overwhelmed with fear. Perhaps the final phase of the world was in process. Hadhrat Anas Bin Maalik (Radhiyallahu anhu) narrated: "When the wind would blow excessively, we would make haste to the Musjid fearing Qiyaamah." Why did Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) and the Sahaabah gain the impression of the imminence of Qiyaamah when innumerable signs of Qiyaamah still had to materialize? Besides the numerous lesser signs, the major signs such as Dajjaal, Nabi Isaa (Alayhis salaam), Imaam Mahdi (Alayhis salaam), Daabbatul Ardh, the rising of the sun in the west, Ya'jooj-Ma'jooj, etc. predicted by Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayh wasallam) still had to materialize. So why did they gain the idea of the excessively strong wind heralding the advent of Qiyaamah? The greatness, power and independence of Allah Azza Wa Jal were impressed in the minds and hearts of Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) and the Sahaabah. Profound emotional fear for Allah Ta'ala at times overshadows intellectual discernment. Everything is forgotten and panic comes in the wake of excessive fear. This was the kind of fear of the Ambiya, Sahaabah, Auliya and even of the greatest Angel, Jibraeel (Alayhis salaam). Only fussaaq and fujjaar of our ilk are bereft of Khauf (fear). Thus, do we sin and indulge recklessly in fisq, fujoor, bid'ah and kufr right in the presence of Allah Azza Wa Jal. Our hearts are fossilized and our brains are deranged. Much hog wash surrounds the issue of contagion: Is disease contagious or not? Detailed arguments and responses have been published in this regard. It is weirdly peculiar that all, without exception, who believe that disease is contagious, ignore the categorical refutation stated in the Qur'aan Majeed. Clinching this argument, the Qur'aan Majeed says: "Have you not seen those people who fled from their homes whilst they were thousands in fear of death? Allah said to them:"Perish! (Die!)" Then (after killing them), Allah resurrected them." (Al-Baqarah, Aayat 243) The Aayat pertains to the community of the town of Bani Israaeel. Once a plague swept through the town. Thousands fled from the town because they feared contracting the disease and dying. They fled to a valley in the mountainous surroundings believing that they will be saved from the pestilence. Then Allah Ta'ala killed all of them. No one can escape death. It arrives at its appointed moment. Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said: "Fleeing from a plague-ridden place is like deserting from the battlefield. Whoever remains with patience will attain the status of a shaheed (martyr)." Question: In his fatwa a Mufti says: "One would be allowed to donate blood whenever the call for donations is made, even though there may not be (at that specific moment) an urgent appeal made for a patient who is in dire need. The donor, however, should donate his/her blood with the intention that the blood must be used in times of extreme necessity for someone who is in dire need of it. At the same time, the donor should take his/her own health also into account, that in the fervour of donating blood, so much should not be donated that results in the donor becoming weak and ill. The difference between blood donation and organ transplant is that blood regenerates and organs don't. Additionally, our illustrious Fuqaha have permitted the usage of blood as a treatment in dire circumstances. Hence, this should not be a cause for any befuddlement. Donating blood is permitted at a time of severe need. [Re:- Kifaayatul Mufti Pg. 154 Vol.9 / Ahsanul Fataawa Pg.273 Vol.8] However, nowadays a number of blood banks have been established in various parts of the country. These blood banks after extracting the blood test it for diseases; ascertain the appropriate blood group and store it. The blood is then used at the time of necessity. There always exists a need for blood for patients in various hospitals in the country. Due to having to follow these stipulated procedures, one is permitted to donate blood in advance with the intention that the blood is readily available for use at the time of need." Please comment. Answer Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said: "Shifa' (cure) of my Ummah has not been put in substances which have been made haraam for them." Although haraam and filth also have curative properties, Allah Ta'ala has made haraam for Muslims haraam substances. This is the actual law of the Shariah. However, the Fuqaha have ruled that in cases of dire need if no halaal medicine is available, then whatever haraam is available may be used as medicine. The utilization of haraam is restricted to the need when it (the haraam) happens to be available. But to adopt haraam as a primary and permanent medicine/medical treatment is never permissible. The law of the Shariah stated by Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) may not and can not be abrogated or cancelled with opinion. If laws of the Shariah are abrogated or set aside on the basis of opinion, nothing will remain of the Shariah of Allah Ta'ala. If during an emergency, no halaal medicine is available, only then may haraam/filth such as blood be used. If even the haraam substance is not available, the Mu'min just has to resign himself to Allah Ta'ala. In fact he has to resign himself to Allah Ta'ala from the very beginning thus abstaining from blood transfusion. What will be the consequence of such abstention? Those whose adherence is slack with the Deen will say that refusing to acceot blood will lead to death. The answer is: Death comes at its appointed time. Blood and even halaal remedies will not stave off Maut. Nothing can thwart Maut. Allah Ta'ala says in the Qur'aan Majeed: "No person will die except at the appointed time with the decree of Allah." It is therefore fallacious to believe that a haraam remedy such as blood will save the life of the patient. While available haraam may be accepted in dire cases of need if halaal is not available, it is not permissible to establish 'banks' to store haraam substances – blood, urine, faeces, etc.. - for use in future patients. Pork may not be stored in anticipation of future starving. If at the time of need, halaal and haraam are not available, there is no option but to live without medicine. Maut will arrive at its appointed moment. Islamic culture does not permit accumulation of filth (najaasat) and haraam substances for future use. Blood banks and donating blood are not permissible. The arguments proffered by the Mufti are all spurious and devoid of Shar'i worth. Opinion never overrides any law of the Shariah. Blood donation is haraam. Blood banks are haraam. Question: Is it permissible to download the Qur'aan Majeed on a cellphone and to make tilaawat from the phone? A Darul Ifta responded as follows to a similar question: Q: I have recently downloaded the Quraan app on my iPhone (touchscreen). Am I permitted to read and touch the Quraan without wudhu? Also, would it be less beneficial to recite the Quraan in this electronic format rather than in book form? A: It is permissible to recite the Qur'an on the phone without wudhu, however you should refrain from placing your finger on that part of the screen where the Qur'anic verses appear. Though it is permissible to recite the Qur'an on the phone, however we discourage the downloading of the Qur'an on the mobile phone and reciting from it. Through reciting the Qur'an in this manner, the honour and sanctity of the Qur'an will no longer be maintained. Especially in these times where pictures of animate objects are taken and stored on the mobile phone and many sins perpetrated through it. Hence, in order to uphold the rights of the Qur'an and show it the respect and honour it deserves, we strongly encourage that one recite the Qur'an in the original way through looking into the Qur'an and reciting it in the state of wudhu. And Allah Ta'ala knows best." (End of the Darul Ifta's fatwa) ANSWER Regarding this issue, it is not permissible to download the Qur'aan Majeed on a phone which is used generally for all kinds of material. It is extremely disrespectful to the Qur'aan Majeed, hence not permissible. It will be permissible to download the Qur'aan Majeed on a phone on which nothing else is downloaded. The phone should not be used for anything else. However, even if the phone contains only the Qur'aan Majeed, then too, it should not be used for Tilaawat without valid reason. Nowadays it has become the fashion for people sitting in the Musjid to recite from their phones. This is haraam because firstly, their phones contain much haraam muck. Secondly, Qur'aan copies are available in the Musaajid. Thirdly, the Masnoon method is to recite from the physical Qur'aan Majeed. The Darul Ifta states in its fatwa: "Through reciting the Qur'an in this manner, the honour and sanctity of the Qur'an will no longer be maintained. Especially in these times where pictures of animate objects are taken and stored on the mobile phone and many sins perpetrated through it." When cellphone recital will lead to dishonouring the sanctity of the Qur'aan Majeed, then never will it be permissible. It will be haraam. Thus the Darul Ifta has contradicted its own stance by saying: "It is permissible………….." Never is it permissible to download even one Aayat of the Qur'aan Majeed on a phone used for haraam pictography and even pornography. Tilaawat of the Qur'aan Majeed must necessarily be made in only the method which has existed in the Ummah since the inception of Islam - since the past fifteen centuries. Abandoning this Masnoon method is haraam. Interference with the acts of Ibaadat is haraam. Ibaadat must compulsorily be maintained in its original form. Question: We are currently faced with a dilemma. My daughter was diagnosed with an immune system problem which its attacking the kidney heart and brains. The kidney has been affected and the heart. The problem we faced with now is to try and stop it going further and another major issue is loosing blood due to the kidney not being able to function correctly despite doing all conventional treatments. The concern is that her blood type is rare so it puts her in a difficult situation where blood is not always available. After much consultation with Dr's it was suggested that our best chance at saving the kidney and arresting its spread further will have to use cells from her blood which they will extract edit and put back so that it can help the kidney regain function and also address the auto immune system problems. Its potentially life saving since the major organs are under attack. Is this treatment permissible? Answer The sickness will be stopped and cured only by the decree of Allah Ta'ala. Regardless of medical treatment, the final decision is the decree of Allah Ta'ala. Stem cell therapy is not permissible. Nothing of the human being may be used for medicine/medical treatment. The cell treatment suggested by the doctors is not permissible. As for 'life saving', this is the imagination of the doctors. Allah Ta'ala says in the Qur'aan Majeed: "No person will die except at the appointed time by the decree of Allah." Nothing can delay Maut, not by even a second. Maut comes only at its appointed time. It is a gross misunderstanding to believe that medical treatment can save life or thwart Maut. Resort to only halaal treatment, and continue making dua. Resign to the decree of Allah Ta'ala. Whatever happens, is by His decree. Once upon a time even the western medical profession was based on altruism. The practioners were philanthropic in attitude. In former days, this attitude and altruism applied to a greater degree to the Hukama (Muslim Hakeems) who were Muttaqi (Pious) practioners. There was much barkat in their diagnosis and prescriptions. Nowadays the worst exploiters and sadists are western doctors. There is no viler profession today than the western medical field. The worst of these highway robbers with their weapons of brutal exploitation are the private hospitals. They literary excoriate the sick and the dying. They are bereft of the slightest vestige of sympathy for the suffering. Their hearts are harder than rock as Allah Ta'ala states in the Qur'aan Majeed: "Then their hearts became hard as stone or harder than stone, for verily from some stones gush rivers, and verily from stones are those which split and water emerges, and verily from stones are those which roll from heights out of fear for Allah. Indeed Allah is not oblivious of what you are perpetrating." (Al-Baqarah, Aayat 74) They are no better than heartless hijackers and kidnappers who extract money by threatening to kill their victims. This brutality applies with greater degree to these satanic private hospitals. In the words of Hadhrat Maulana Masihullah (Rahmatullah alayh): "They are kasaai (butchers)." Doctors and private hospitals today are the worst exploiters who surpass even lawyers by light years in the satanic art of brutal exploitation. Their medical oaths are devoid of substance – empty and meaningless. They are munaafiqeen to their own profession which originally was a profession with altruistic ideals. While hakeems are not monetary exploiters, generally their diagnosis and prescriptions are devoid of spiritual substance, that is barkat, and that is because they lack Taqwa. Indeed, the medical profession today is ugly, exploitive and brutal in the extreme. "Those from you who lack the means for marriage, should guard their chastity until Allah provides for them (the means for marriage) from His grace." (An-Noor, Aayat 33) Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) has assured those who lack the means for marriage that Allah Ta'ala has assumed the responsibility of assisting them provided that they maintain their chastity. It is never permissible to resort to haraam and immoral methods for the acquisition of sexual gratification. The command in the aforementioned Qur'aanic Aayat is sufficient proof for the fact that Allah Ta'ala has granted every person sufficient spirituality to combat and suppress the evil bestial demands of the nafs. No argument to the contrary is valid. The need is to wage mujaahadah – to struggle against the nafs. Allah Ta'ala will then open up the avenue and provide the means for Nikah. There is no need for the poor person who immediately lacks the means to be concerned and worried. He should simply forget, and not brood on his plight. He should make dua and be contented. He will then see how Allah Ta'ala opens the way and makes the arrangements for his Nikah. This dunya is the abode of trial. It is necessary to combat the evil desires and dictates of the nafs and shaitaan. Then the aid of Allah Ta'ala will be forthcoming. Most people being misled by shaitaan believe themselves to be overwhelmed by bestial desire, hence they indulge in haraam acts to attain sexual gratification. In so doing they harm themselves physically and spiritually. Then to justify their indulgence in immorality they dig up some obscure rejected view pertaining to the permissibility of masturbation despite the explicit prohibition stated by Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) and the unequivocal command in the Qur'aanic Aayat to exercise restraint and to maintain chastity. The need is to repose trust on Allah Ta'ala and to understand that all our needs are the responsibility of Allah Ta'ala. Our obligation is to obey and His obligation is to fulfil our needs – needs which He has created and ordained for us.
